Product Introduction
The Ashizuri-class was completed in January 1943 as a tanker for the carrier task force, capable of replenishing two large aircraft carriers' worth of aircraft fuel, as well as equipment, ammunition, and rations. However, it was sunk in June 1944 by a U.S. Navy submarine attack before it could fulfill its intended mission of supporting the task force.
