Product Introduction

The "Harusame" was the fifth Shiratsuyu-class destroyer, completed in 1937. In January 1943, it was torpedoed by a US Navy submarine, rendering it unable to sail under its own power. It was towed by the Amatsukaze and Urakaze to the Truk anchorage and received emergency repairs at the spy ship Akashi before undergoing full-scale repairs in Yokosuka. This kit recreates an early-construction Shiratsuyu-class destroyer (as of 1942) equipped with a rectangular bridge. It recreates the distinctive features of the Shiratsuyu-class, including its self-loading quad 61cm torpedo tubes, a single 40mm machine gun mounted in a machine gun mount amidships, and a loop antenna mounted on the searchlight tower aft of the second funnel. It also includes the new equipment set NE05, "1/700 Japanese Navy New Ship Equipment Set (5)," allowing for even more detailed construction of the "Harusame." Includes one ship.
