The 1500 series was introduced in 1985 (Showa 60) to replace the 1000 series (now discontinued), which had been active on the subway.
Early cars had steel bodies, but were later changed to aluminum alloy bodies in a minor change.
The control system was field-coupled chopper control, but the cars added in 1990 changed to VVVF inverter control.
Fixed 4-car, 6-car, and 8-car formations are available, with the 4- and 6-car formations limited to the Keikyu Line, while the 8-car formations are in service on the Toei Asakusa Line, Keisei Line, and Hokuso Line.
Twenty years have passed since their introduction, so renovations were carried out, and all cars have now been completed.
Recreate the pre-renovation era using the 1521~ prototype.
