Product Introduction
The Murasame-class is the third-generation gas turbine-powered general-purpose destroyer, following the Hatsuyuki-class and Asagiri-class. Nine ships were built by 2002. The sixth ship, the Samidare, was completed in March 2000 and participated in overseas operations, including anti-piracy convoy escort off the coast of Somalia, in 2009. It is currently part of the 4th Escort Division, 4th Escort Flotilla, based in Kure. In addition to the ship bottom parts, the kit also includes newly created decals featuring the ship numbers and names of ships 6 through 9, the Samidare, Ikazuchi, Akebono, and Ariake, as well as current helicopter landing signs and walkways.
