OBORO AKA/KURO: The uneven surface texture is a new sensation, yet it feels natural in your hand. The high-quality texture you feel every time you hold it in your hand gives it an even more elegant feel. This masterpiece, the product of the efforts of many craftsmen, has a texture that cannot be felt just by looking at it.
PLOCESS: After applying the base coat, raw lacquer is applied and before it dries, dried lacquer powder (finely crushed lacquer) is sprinkled on top. This is repeated twice to make the unevenness more pronounced. After that, lacquer is applied, carefully polished with sandpaper, and then wiped off. This is then repeated three times to bring out the color and luster of the lacquer. The lacquer alone requires a total of 10 steps, and the combined skills of three craftsmen have resulted in a unique texture that has never been seen before.
