There has been a shift from highly glossy leather to matte leather, which is less glossy than before, and our store inventory is also a mix of both types. Therefore, you cannot choose the type of leather.
Depending on the leather (natural leather) and leather part used during production, the texture of the leather may differ, and due to the nature of the leather, there may be wrinkles, scratches, or left-right differences. These are not defective products, but are due to product characteristics.
It is also a handmade and made in America product. Please enjoy the life of boots as the charm of genuine leather is that each piece of leather has a different expression as shown above.

Released by Red Wing in 1954 for postmen and policemen, #101 was a highly complete service shoe featuring a wedge-shaped rubber sole with good grip and cushioning, and glossy black collected grain leather. Five years later, in 1959, the chukka length #9196 was added, expanding the lineup. The following year, in 1960, the design of the upper of #101 was improved, resulting in an elegant design that made luxurious use of a single piece of leather. With these minor changes, the #101 and #9196 were no doubt the most reliable tools for postal workers who delivered letters on foot every day while carrying large bags filled with large numbers of letters. In this way, Red Wing's #101 and #9196 were called "Postman Shoes" and became representative American service shoes of the 20th century. The "SR/USA" tag sewn onto the shoes is proof of compliance with the SR/USA standard (slip-resistant, mde in USA with a tag designated SR/USA), and is a sign that the shoes are worn by USPS personnel.
It also means that "Postman shoes" were active in the American work scene in the latter half of the 20th century. In today's fashion scene, where classic workwear is in the spotlight as a timeless item, these shoes have been revived as shoes with an outstanding presence.
