Step 1: Fold the CHEMEX filter in half. Then, fold it in half again, bringing the two corners together. Place your finger between the third and fourth layers to open the funnel.
Step 2: Place the funnel on top of the CHEMEX coffee maker, stacking the three layers groove-side down. The groove is the vent (and spout) that allows air to escape from the bottom of the coffee maker.
Step 3: Fill the filter paper cone with coffee. Use one heaping tablespoon per cup of coffee (adjust as needed after brewing to suit your personal taste). See the brewing instructions for the remaining steps.
Thickness: 20-30% thicker than competitors, the special fiber filter design keeps bitter elements, oils, and grounds in place (and out of the cup).
Fits all CHEMEX coffee makers except the CM-1, CM-1C, and CM-1GH.
